Milly Weeber
July 21, 1937 - May 25, 2014
We are saddened to announce that Milly I. Weeber passed away on May 25, 2014, at the age of 76. Originally from Platte (SD) and most recently a resident of Arvada (CO), Milly established roots and friendships in Boulder (CO), Albuquerque (NM), and Grand Rapids (MI). Earning her master's degree at Western Michigan University, Milly touched many lives through her nearly 40 year career as a teacher, counselor, and mentor in elementary, middle, and high schools, and community college. She enriched, and was enriched by, her thorough involvement in youth groups, clubs, choirs, and associations. For the last 18 years of her career, she was a counselor in the Career Resource Center, Adult Education, and then Counseling Department at Grand Rapids Community College, becoming the head of the department for the final years of her career.
She will be missed by a large extended family that includes her daughter Christine Weeber of Black Hawk, CO (Jeff Lukas) and her son Russ Weeber of Ottawa, Ontario (Elaine Murkin), her granddaughter Delaney and grandson Jackson, and her sister Caroline Vandenbos (John), brother Sam Sybesma (Henrietta), sister Mary Jean Huisjen (Merle), sister Anna Mae Lubben (Pete), and sister Gertrude Baker (Bernard). She was preceded in death by her parents Sam and Caroline Sybesma, brothers Clarence, Marion, and Stanley Sybesma, and sisters Bertha Flietstra, Clara Flietstra, and Darlene Vandenberg.
A viewing will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 30 at Crist Mortuary (3395 Penrose Place, Boulder, CO). A Witness to the Resurrection service will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 31 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church (3700 Baseline Road, Boulder, CO), and will be followed by interment in the St. Andrew Columbarium and a reception at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. They will be used in the Deacons' Discretionary Fund and earmarked for care and visitations for homebound members and friends. To send condolences please go to www.cristmortuary.com.
